Sun Worship (2312)

You always mercurial in either sense
Your senses augmented and paranoid
The reptile, the primitive parts of your brain
Trained, fight to kill or flight, no in between
In a cold far off and forgotten place
Your freedom to roam wild
In a world that almost died and was reborn
Adorned in jewelry made of bones, you run with ghosts
Standing black, on the ridge you face your god
Our god if we’d admit to something so abstract
“There’s a crack, in everything”1 so goes the Anthem
And the light, where it goes, even the smallest life grows
Pray for me or whatever the hell you do
I’m going down system, I’ll see you when I see you
Despite the things I’ve said, and all the things I’ve done
I hope to see you again, standing in the sun
1 Leonard Cohen, from Anthem.

Polyurethane
04:04
|
|||
Languid evening, hurried weaving
With the whir, clack, clack of polyurethane.
Never imagined we’d live this long, young immortals and then gone
Too late until I saw the lines, the chains.
I hope you weren’t alone, but I have no right to know.
All snapshots now, without a frame.
Like stories your sister told, in her paintings, I hope
Something beautiful grows from what remains.
Not like we fell away, more a slow drift decay,
The distance, in fairness shares some blame,
Luck or genetics I guess, ya we all took all the risks,
Some landed it, assumed you’d do the same.
Singing to myself, since I know I’m no help.
Half of grief is selfish, and the stronger side of guilt.
I’m sorry I didn’t try, I just lost track of time.
To the sound of wheels on concrete echoing.

I saw the painting on your tent, but the artist was no van Rijn.
First time in the flesh, thought I'd misplaced my spine.
We were angels altogether, floating thru the days.
Laughing at the looks, inseparable sisters, and my bloody face.
You say I only love you, cause I always love the saddest things.
But you’re the ones always singing, "it's all wires, gears, and springs."
I'll bite the heads of someone, while you sing for the crowd.
We must have mattered somehow, for you to scream so loud.
For me at least it was more, than awkward requited lust.
If mere machines as you say, it's with you i'd like to rust.
You fought thru and around me, but the silence in this room,
Is strange. I miss it now, maybe the threat we’d be consumed.
We came to forks in paths before and set it all afire
fueled by truths to each other, but to ourselves... we lied.

Beast (2021)

Your red hair, pale yellow eyes, so match the evening
We stall for time, as fissures deepen
Abandoned your home, slipped south in the night
Stripped of everything, but the fight was feast for you
Was there a sound when you transformed
Were you screaming?
Or have the ashes in your eyes
Worn out the feeling?
I see your wings are almost done, I always prayed you’d leave
As a beast you tamed, if nothing else, hope you’ll remember me
I see your wings are almost done, Where will you go?
Fade away from this angry hive, or are we now the devils that you know?
No one here, no one is suffering, no one here’s in pain
Not anymore, we melted down our chains
Forged anew, shiny sharpened bites
Ready for anything and the fight is a feast for us
Open up. I’m all alone

Foglings Maryland
What are foglings? No one knows for sure. They've been seen fleetingly for centuries that we know of. Blamed for actions good, bad, or mischievous, are they supernatural, extraterrestrial, something we have not yet imagined?
