Inana/Ištar is a Sumerian origin goddess. She was an arguably complex character embodying aspects of war, sex, love, fertility. Or perhaps her understanding changed over time. Here her basic character is reimagined as growing up in a community controlled by street gangs.

Wasn't much when it began, dazed taste of skin
Days decomposed, smiling maniacal din
But things evolve in time. Over plastic cups and wine
Over weekends shut in, by practice defined

Lives in silhouette, two hand prints on the wall
Too weakly hanging on, so many ways to fall
You who couldn't forgive your past, but prayed for your thorns to grow
Preyed upon those close to you, and then everyone you know

I'll remember you there, melted in that chair
In all your silent fits, all your broken and stoic bits
If I remember you at all
I'm trying to quit

I'll remember you then, sitting on the edge
All those quiet slits, all those noisy sirened trips
If I remember you at all, I'm trying to cut you out

Foglings Maryland

What are foglings? No one knows for sure. They've been seen fleetingly for centuries that we know of. Blamed for actions good, bad, or mischievous, are they supernatural, extraterrestrial, something we have not yet imagined?
